Did you know the Torah loves the number three?
The Torah was given as a book of 3 (Torah, Prophets, and Writings), in the 3rd month (starting from Nissan), to the people who are comprised of 3 (Kohen, Levi, and Israel).
The number 3 is symbolic of true unity. The number 1 is alone. 2 represents tension and opposites. With 3, one merges the two to create a new entity, one that harmoniously includes both opposites.
The Rebbe requested that Jewish children, the guarantors of the Torah, gather together on the Shabbat before Shavuot. This mirrors the unity our people displayed as they stood at Mount Sinai as one man with one heart.
This Shabbos, gather together, inspire one another, and get ready to accept the Torah anew!
Shabbat Shalom!
Light Shabbat candles in NYC on Friday at 7:52 PM.
